Common Issues & Fixes¶

Clear the Teams Cache¶

Resolves most login loops, missing features, blank screens, and UI glitches.

1. Fully quit Teams — right-click the system tray icon → Quit.
2. Open File Explorer and navigate to:

   %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams
   

3. Delete the contents of these folders (not the folders themselves):
4. Cache
5. blob_storage
6. databases
7. GPUCache
8. IndexedDB
9. Local Storage
10. tmp
11. Relaunch Teams.

Login Loop / Stuck on Loading Screen¶

1. Clear the cache (see above).
2. If the loop continues, sign out of Teams from the sign-in screen if possible.
3. Remove Teams credentials from Windows Credential Manager: search for entries containing msteams or microsoft teams and delete them.
4. Relaunch and sign in again.

Audio / Video Not Working in Meetings¶

1. Check device permissions: Windows Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone / Camera — ensure Teams has access.
2. In Teams: Settings (...)→ Devices — confirm the correct microphone, speaker, and camera are selected.
3. Test with the built-in Make a test call option under Devices settings.
4. If a headset is not detected, try unplugging and re-plugging, or switch the Windows default audio device.

Teams Missing from Chat / Not Showing in Search¶

• The user may not be in the same tenant or may have guest access restrictions.
• Check the user's account is licensed for Teams: Microsoft 365 admin center → Users → Active users → Licenses.
• If messaging is blocked by policy, review Teams admin center → Messaging policies.

Teams Not Updating¶

# For classic Teams — force an update check
# Right-click the Teams tray icon → Check for updates

# For new Teams — repair via Settings
# Windows Settings → Apps → Microsoft Teams → Advanced options → Repair / Reset

Screen Share Shows Black Screen¶

• Update GPU drivers.
• Disable GPU hardware acceleration in Teams: Settings → General → uncheck "Disable GPU hardware acceleration" (requires restart).
• If sharing a specific window, try sharing the entire screen instead.
